If it drops and remain below 13.5 volts, it indicates a problem with the current supply from the alternator. The voltage should remain around 14 volts.Switch on the accessories in your Vue, for example, headlights, AC fan at full speed, and interior lights. The voltage should be between 13.5 and 14.8 volts with the engine running.Connect the black cable of the multimeter to negative terminal of the battery, and the red cable to the positive terminal. The easiest method to check the alternator is by measuring the voltage at the battery terminals when the engine is running. Before replacing the alternator, you must rule out other causes that may stop or degrade flow of current from the alternator, for example: bad electrical connection or damaged wire. If there is anything you would like to add that could help the next person with their Vue, please leave a comment.Alternators can fail at any time, but generally they last over 100,000 miles. It’s usually not too hard to track down P0205, thanks to the fact that it is specific to the fifth cylinder. This is the last place that you’d want to look, but a bad PCM can be the reason why your Vue is getting P0205. If they aren’t that’s a good indication that something is wrong with the wiring harness. Make sure that the voltage at the injector matches the injectors that aren’t getting the code. You want to make sure that it doesn’t look visibly damaged. When diagnosing P0205, taking a look at the wiring around the injector is a great place to start. A new fuel injector is relatively affordable.įuel injectors can make your Vue’s PCM throw P0205 if they are plugged, dirty, or defective. There’s a YouTube video directly above that shows how to do that. You’ll also want to test the injector itself. You still want to take a look at the wiring harness. When diagnosing P0205 in your Vue you only need to look at the fuel injector in cylinder five, since the PCM has pinpointed the location of the problem for you.īad fuel injectors are the most common reason that P0205 is present in your Vue.
